On August 22, 2008 (Friday), CST (www.canadiansociety.org) Canada D'eh 2008 committee organized a "thank you" volunteer party for people who have helped out during and on the day of Canada D'eh 2008 held on June 28, 2008.
Thanks to CST's invitation to the CAT (www.cat-gogo.org) core-team members who have helped to bring nearly 300 people and organize the Tug&War and Volleyball event during the day.
It was a great turn out where the most of the volunteers and the event organized committee came to the dinner and thanks for O'Ginny's kindness in giving us almost the whole venue for the night for our gathering.
During the night, photos were shown on LCD screen, and people have also taken out their camera to take photo with new friends they have met during the event preparation of Canada D'eh 2008. Once again, we would like to thank you very much for everyone who have taken part in making Canada D'eh 2008 the largest Canada Day celebration in Asia and as well the largest event organized by foreign community in Taiwan.
Last week, I had an opportunity to treat myself at one of the most famous Japanese food restaurant in Taiwan called "Mitsuit" or also known as "the 3 Wells" in Chinese. The restaurant is famous for its precision, freshness, and excellence in delivering the premium value both traditional and innovative Japanese cuisine.
My friend and I picked to dine at the Sushi bar, and had the opportunity to have one of the senior chief to prepare the food in front of us for our lovely dinner. (as you can see from the photos). It was definitely a wonderful experience as we have selected sea food to be base of our meal which was consisted of a variation from raw fish, crab, beef and even a soup! Of course finished the meal with the delicious must-have green tea ice cream!!
Tonight was invited to Hyatt Taipei to join a broadway dinner banquet and my wife gave me all the courage to bring our new Canon 1000D for a photo shooting experience. (I was quite neverious and excited to actually take photo in a public place where people's eye are watching wondering if I am a journalist from some magazine taking private photo and show it on the next day's front page --> guess I was just thinking too much)
Since this is the first time, some of the photo are still blur and not clear! I guess the real problem is still my photo taking skill and not the actual tool. Well hopefully that I will be able to sharpen my skill to really bring the beauty to live.
DinTaiFung is one of the "must bring guest" too restaurant that our office always take our co-workers from our branch office around the world to. Not only it is one of my favorite places, but has a variety of menu selection that appeal to almost everyone. Of course the main attraction is the "dumpling" which actually after cooking as delicious soup in it, and the restaurant actually prepares instruction on "how-to" eat so that everyone can appreciate its food.
Recently, lots people have kindly comment on my "photo skill" and it is to a point that I, along with my friends, have kindly drawn my attention to address this "issue". After thinking about it, I have decided to plung myself into the the world "single lense camera". (I am sure, you will be ... WHAAAAATT, David, we ask you to keep your hand still, not asking you to get a new camera).
Well here is a photo that I took with my new Nikon 1000D with Sigma lense (18-200MM with optical stablizer function)! Woow I was really amaze with the picture quality and have put my hands very steady!
(I also went to the book store, and got myself on learning how to take photo in 30 days --> very typical of me)
If you feel like to give me a word of encouragement (which I need it), please kindly drop me a message on the blog! ( www.davekuo.net/blog )

What I love in Taiwan is the ability to configure the PC the way you want it with a sales person in the store, and the store will have your PC built, configure and test less than 2 hrs while you are talking a break after spending $$$ in a coffee shop near by.
.. description of my purchase:
.. Just want to share with what I have built, there is the spec
